Linocut design of a rhino beetle on a hypercolour background

Natural history and medical illustrations are a passion of mine. I take so much inspiration from natural forms, as you will see from this section.

I also enjoy creating hand-drawn illustrations, especially with this subject matter, as digital art could feel too sterile.

Linocut Printing

Linocut is something that I have picked up recently as a bit of fun.

Tigerfish

A tigerfish is a fearsome predatory fish native to Zimbabwe, where I was born and raised. They are a sport fish and not very good for eating.

My dad loved catching them and so I thought creating a tigerfish print for him would make a meaningful gift.

Rhino Beetle

I am passionate about nature and have always been interested in reflecting it in my art. Therefore, it is predictable that this will be the subject of my first experiment into linocut printing.

Montana Ex Libris

While in lockdown 2021, my family welcomed its newest member and the first of the next generation for us: Montana.

To celebrate, I designed an Ex Libris (latin for ‘from the library of’) to the theme of her nursery, ‘under the sea’.

Coloured Pencil

When it comes to hand-drawn illustrations, I tend to more monochrome executions. Here I wanted to experiment more with colour.

Cockatoo

When I drew this, I was living in an apartment frequented by four sulphur-crested cockatoos. I was inspired by them to try and capture their character and charm.
